    Thanks to all for a *very* happy birthday!
     It was a wonderful day indeed--lots of sunshine and a fantastic art exhibit and then all of you with your wonderful wishes... so I had a fantastic birthday!

    Thanks to [info]seleneheart and [info]foxrafer for the ecards, to [info]bethbetter, [info]liars_dance and [info]mooms and [info]govi20 for the delicious chocolate tortes (all the chocolate I can eat, and no calories, yay!), to [info]anthos65 for the ruby heart, to [info]foxrafer again for the snowman (I think he helped scare away the rain!), and to [info]kittylass for the blue dragon (I'm pretending he's a fire lizard...). Also, thanks to [info]just_ann_now, [info]alex_quine, and [info]fawsley for the amazing birthday fics.

    And as usual, I spent my birthday knowing [info]caras_galadhon would provide a lovely post-birthday giggle--and she did, so thanks to her for that, as well as the birthday wishes (and c'mon, wrestling and hockey, we gotta do it... *snrch*)

    Belated Thank-yous for a wonderful day!
     Huh--I'm "Monty Python old", as we say in our neck of the Bay (aka, Finland, since it's always damp and cold in my apartment). You know, "Old woman!" "Man!" "Old man!" "I'm not old, I'm 37!" *snicker*

    Thank you all for making it such a lovely day! I've been under the Deadline From Hell for the last week, so having little somethings pop up all day was just the thing I needed to keep me from going crazy!

    Notes: This is definitely a WIP... and in second person, no less. I've gotten a little further, but I wanted to post this far and see what people thought. The first two paragraphs were written by the lovely [info]foxrafer, and are used with her gracious permission--it was the "entry" to her Halloween Trick or Treat entry this past year, and sparked the rest of this, and hopefully the rest of the story.

Well, since her fic was about knitting, I sort of took that and ran with it. So this is for you, Candice! It's *extremely* silly, but I hope it's enjoyable!

    Happy belated 2011!
     Happy 2011, all! I know I'm a little late... *looks shamefaced*

    But I did want to say thanks to all of you who sent me gorgeous holiday cards, so thank you to:

    Happy Lj-versary to me!
     Seven years and... *checks* 458 entries ago, [info]cruisedirector brought forth upon the Web a new journal. And its name was [info]ribby, and it was good. *grin*

    It's been an interesting seven years--if you'd told me then I'd write more than 400 pieces of fiction over the next seven years, I'd have told you you were crazy, that I wasn't any kind of a writer. *sheepish grin* Good thing no-one did, huh?

    And you all have a great deal to do with having such a wonderful seven years! It's amazing to be part of such a creative, supportive, and wonderful community... I still sometimes wonder what I'm doing here! *grin*

    On that note, also, thanks to all of you for the emails and comments wondering where I am... I'm still here, but just... taking a sabbatical, I guess. My muses have scarpered, and even though I have a couple of ideas, I can't seem to write them. Part of it, I think, has to do with the yearly "this isn't working, let's try another career" pattern I seem to be in. That and, well, I'm into my "obsessive reading" phase with the new fandom (Torchwood/Doctor Who). But I'm still here, and still occasionally commenting--and I'm always here by email.

    Since the publishing industry is going kaput, at least where freelancers are concerned, I decided to try my hand at grant-writing. Which is going, but slowly. I'm still trying to find clients, as always. So if any of you know of a reuptable nonprofit (I'm best in the arts, but really, I can write anything) who is willing to take a chance on a grant-writer with little experience but *lots* of writing chops, I'd love to hear about it!

    As of Sunday, I'm heading up North to dialup (and a truly astonishing bag of books To Be Read... yahoo!), so I probably won't be on LJ much, if at all (not that I've been around much as it is... *sheepish grin*).

    That being said, thank you to everyone who's sent cards--I feel loved! *smile* Mine may not get out until after Xmas, I'm afraid--but as far as I'm concerned, the holiday season lasts until Twelfth Night, so I still have some time.

    Happy holidays to all of you; I hope they're wonderful, and 2010 even more so--see you in the New Year!
